John Rivers-Moore
Director.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc), CA(SA)
After completing my training as a Chartered Accountant at Price Waterhouse in 1993, I lived in Chicago and London for three years where I worked as an audit senior and then as a derivative and loan syndication accountant.
On returning to South Africa, I joined Tiger Brands - the largest listed food company in Africa- and became the Financial Director of the Milling & Baking division. This role provided me with the opportunity to obtain operational “hands-on” experience and I was awarded the divisional Employee of the Year in 1997.
“My focus is on the day-to-day management of the fiduciary and corporate services business to deliver on client mandates, as well as developing the company expertise in Fund and Property Investment-related businesses.”
I was then headhunted into the Financial Services industry as an Investment Analyst with HSBC Securities in Johannesburg and was rated in the Top 6 analysts nationally by the Financial Mail.
In 2003 I was recruited as Finance Director, but progressed to become Sales & Strategy Director in the mortgage lending business at Standard Bank and during this time, I also served as a Board Director of Diners Club International.
The position of COO at Econorisk, a top 10 leading South African Short Term Insurance Brokerage, allowed me to combine my Financial Services and Operational skills. As part of a team of executives, we introduced enhancements of services that led to maintaining product supplier profitability and winning a Gold Award from South Africa’s biggest national Insurance Supplier.
I joined Cannon Asset Management Limited in 2017 as a Senior Executive and was soon promoted to Director. My focus is on the day-to-day management of the fiduciary and corporate services business to deliver on client mandates, as well as developing the company expertise in Fund and Property Investment-related businesses. I currently serve on various boards as well as being a member of the Investment Committee and the Compliance, Risk and Corporate Governance Committee.
Outside of work you'll find me cycling, surfing, swimming or paddling around the island. As a keen sports fan, I am often found cheering loudly for the Guernsey Raiders or my two sons who play rugby and hockey for the island.
